Hi & Welcome to my Web site

Hi and welcome to my website which is dedicated to my interests in backyard astronomy and in particular, my fascination with astrophotography. I received my first telescope as a gift from my Grandfather when I was about 15. It was a 60mm Vixen achromatic refractor which gave me an excellent introduction to astronomy. I kept it it for 25 years until I came by my first "serious" telescope, an 8" Meade LX90 GPS, which my beautiful wife & a bunch of great friends gave me for my 40th birthday. Since then, I have owned a 10" Meade LX200GPS which I sold to fund an upgrade to a better astrophotography platform.

I now have a Losmandy Titan mount with a Takahashi FSQ106 Apochromatic refractor and a Celestron C11 OTA.

I'm fortunate enough to live in a semi-rural location, about 50km North of Sydney, Australia. Even though it's far from a dark sky location, it's far enough away from the bright suburban lights to really appreciate the beauty of the night sky. I'm currently in the process of building my dream observatory which really wouldn't be possible without the help of both my dad & father-in-law.

I have added bits and pieces to this website which I have found relevant to my astronomy pursuits along my journey. I hope you find it useful.

Cheers & Clear Skies,

Matt
